Kovacic goal maintains Boro run

8th January 2005

Malborough & Hope Cove FC 1-0 Buckland Athletic 3rds FC

The home side started slowly and only a brilliant save from keeper Steve Avent kept them level.

Buckland created only one further chance in the first half with Avent again saving well, tipping the ball over the bar.

The second half started with Boro knowing they were about to be really tested. Straight from restart, Buckland were using the wind to their advantage with their quick forwards chasing all the loose balls. However the Boro defense made sure they did not get through.

The midfield of Jody Barraclough, Nick Bowles, Danny Gregory and Harry Dawson then started to see more of the ball and a through ball by Gregory saw Wayne Kovacic in the clear. He made no mistake in slotting the ball past the keeper.

This win moves Boro into 8th position in the league table. (12 points from 10 games)

Malborough & Hope Cove are now unbeaten in three games and hope to take this run on into the Ivor Andrews Cup when they entertain Paignton Villa Reserves this Saturday (15 January).
