Church closes for refurbishment

3rd December 2004

The new build, which is already underway, includes the creation of a kitchen and toilet for disabled people as well as vital repairs to the rest of the building.

The main church will be replastered and rewired, windows repaired and floor investigated while the exterior must also be repointed and painted.

Reverend John Kendall said the last service would take place on December 5 at 6pm. After that, members would attend worship in various locations, ranging from Galmpton Parish Church to Kingsbridge Methodist Church.

"We look forward to using the 'new' church for the benefit of all," he said. "There are two aspects to the project. Obviously the general refurbishment programme is one part but the other project to build disabled toilets and a kitchen allows us to provide a much more warm and welcoming environment where people can come and have a cup of coffee and a piece of cake."
